Yesterday I found this big mushroom in the Greenbelt. It was more than six inches across.

Taking a photo of something I couldn’t see was tricky. The underneath part of the cap, also called gills, isn’t as clear as I would have liked but the view is right:
The next two photos show the stalk and the ring around the stalk:
And finally, the base:
It’s like viewing another world, in a way, this macro photography, isn’t it?

Yes it is. I have mushrooms in my front yard too. I’m going to do some microscopic photos of those!

If only we could see microscopically we might be able to see another living world beneath these mushrooms. It makes me think of fairy tales.

I’m going to do some microscopic pictures of some mushrooms in my front yard. That is different than what you are talking about but it does open up another world too.

Wow. I love looking at the under-cap, the delicate lines. I remember drawing mushrooms (toadstools?) and making etchings in printmaking class long ago.
