The Daily Post challenge for today was to answer the following question:
Sherlock Holmes had his pipe. Dorothy had her red shoes. Batman had his Batmobile. If we asked your friends what object they most immediately associate with you, what would they answer?
When I saw the challenge, nothing immediately came to mind. I decided to ask my friends the question directly. I was very curious to see how they would answer it.
They came up with quite a variety of objects. Several gave more than one answer.
1) Three people said cigarette butts! This is not because I smoke; it is because I organize work parties to pick up the cigarette butts other people have tossed. As of April 2014, we had picked up 213,000 butts.
2) Someone else said Statue of Liberty. That obviously is not something I own but it is very intriguing that when she thinks of me she thinks of that statue. I like it a lot!
3) Another person wrote:
Well, my first thought of you is your abundant beautiful hair, but that’s not an object. When I just stopped for a moment and visualized you, I immediately saw you with a tool in your hand. The tool could be anything – a garden trowel, a spatula, a pen, a hammer, a paint brush, a computer, one of those long grips for picking up litter – but you very much (my impression anyway) – interact with the world and use many kinds of tools. So it would be Karuna, Jill-of-all-trades, with a tool.
Here are the responses from the others!
4) needle and thread
5) computer
6) phone
7) Kindle
8) sewing
9) massage chair
10) Amma picture
11) Amma ring
12) litter grabber
13) permaculture and green plants
14) glasses
I love that I answered the prompt in this way. It was very interesting to learn what objects come to mind when people think of me!
Hah what a fun insightful post x

This may sound odd, though I think of you secondarily as the colours of your blog; specifically, the purple band and blue borders. Primarily, I think of you as the state of compassion and as of a butterfly, both of which derive from your avatar of course. So for me, and as one not too familiar with your writing yet, these associations spring to mind in identifying the words with some cohesive entity of being.
With all best wishes,
Hariod.

That was the result of many work parties. At some point, I’m going to write article about that aspect of our project too.
