Vedavati sent this photo of Thursday’s sunset.

She went on to say: “This is the 1st sunset in a while that we had any clouds.” and “I was watching the sunset and all of a sudden these birds started flying and I thought wouldnt it be fun if I got a shot of a bird. Didn’t expect this!”

I decided to surprise her by cropping the bird photo. It didn’t come out clear but looks ethereal to me. Other worldly!

That’s truly amazing. Sure miss Amritapuri skies and birds. Nice to see it virtually at least.

This reminds me of an exhibit I first encountered at the Library of Congress. It was the works of a Russian photographer who did color photography in the early 1900s, long before there was color film. For each photo, he would take exposures on three plates using different color filters, which took a few seconds to change. As a result, any movement between exposures would be quite apparent. I got the sense that the photos actually captured time. Here’s a sample: https://www.loc.gov/pictures/collection/prok/item/2018678929/resource/
